About Jana Vikas

JANA VIKAS is a grass root Non-Government Organization (NGO) based at K. Nuagaon Block of Kandhamal district, Odisha. This organization was registered under Society Registration Act 1860 on September 16th, 1992. In Odia language “JANA” means ‘People’ and “VIKAS” means ‘Development’. It is evolving as capacity building organization and has also partnered with various NGOs and Govt departments and have formed consortium at different levels to address issues at District, State and National level. Presently, the organization is working in 6 districts, 14 blocks, 36 Gram Panchayats and 980 villages. The focus is still on marginalized Dalit, indigenous tribes, minority and other backward communities.

Mission

Our Mission is to sensitize, organize, enable, empower and develop  the poor and marginalized especially the Adivasi, Dalit, and OBCs to respond to their issues, needs, problems and vulnerabilities by using their existing potential, strength and resources through collective reflection, decision and action and bring forth changes for common benefits.

Core Objective:

Encourage sustainable livelihoods grounded in gender perspective, free from poverty and hunger through management of natural, human and government resources.

Initiate people centered advocacy for changing into humanitarian standards of policies, programs and provisions in favor of poor, indigenous and marginalized sections of the society. Promote values, culture, peace, social justice, and harmonization.
